Meet the Rural Oscars contenders for 2012
Friday, 23 November 2012
The 2012 Rural Oscars are now well underway. Having closed to nominations and read every single one of the 3,500+ nominations we received for rural businesses across England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, we have now chosen our finalists.
Please click on your area in the left hand menu to meet your finalists. They will then be judged and winners will be declared in January 2013.
Finalists for Yorkshire will be judged by a regional panel which this year includes the Herriot Country Tourism Group.
All finalists in Wales are invited to a reception at the Senedd on 30th January to find out who the winners are for Wales
Similarly all finalists in the Scottish Countryside Alliance Awards are invited to a reception at Holyrood on 5th Febuary to celebrate their success and find out if they have won the overall Scottish title.
All regional winners go forward to the Grand Final, at which overall UK & Ireland Champions will be declared. This will be held at Parliament on 13th March 2013. The overall UK & Ireland Champions will be drawn from the regional winners and will be judged by a special panel. The pane includes Secretary of State for Defra, Owen Paterson MP, Cook and author Clarissa Dickson Wright, Butcher Liveryman & 4th generation Butcher David Lidgate, Philip Johnston of The Daily Telegraph, Emma Penny of Farmers Guardian and Chris Dewbury of Hunter Boot. Countryside Alliance Executive Chairman Barney White-Spunner will chair the panel.
Good luck to all finalists!
